Since the 1940s a group of man-made chemicals, perfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS), have been manufactured and used in a  variety of industries and households. By 2015 EPA phased out two of the PFAS compounds and issued a Health Advisory. Connecticut, and other states, are taking measures to address the presence of these contaminants that are found in drinking water supplies and wastewater systems. This presentation will be an overview of the  properties of the chemical, its health effects,  and the research, the challenges to investigate, monitor, treat and fund this harmful PFAS chemical contamination.
