Title: Administrative Assistant
Status: Non-exempt (Hourly)
Code: Part Time
Reports to: Executive Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of secretarial, clerical, and technical duties of moderate to
considerable difficulty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Communicates directly with visitors, Association members and staff, and the public orally
or in writing, as needed.
o Participates in daily administrative, statistical, and secretarial work, as assigned.
o Supervises and processes daily mail and mass mailings.
o Supervises and maintains office supplies.
o Supervises Association filings and records retention.
o Assists with assigned Board related activities.
o Assists with financial record keeping activities as assigned.
o Assists with the coordination of locations and venue logistics for RIRWA training and
education programs, initiatives, and events, as assigned.
o Assists with the coordination of travel planning for Board of Directors and staff to
conferences, in-service training, and other Association functions, as assigned.
o Contributes written articles for RIRWA publications, as requested.
o Assists the Executive Director in attaining the strategic goals of the Association.

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:
o Effectively communicate with coworkers, utility representatives, regulators, business
associates, and members of the public in a professional manner at all times.
o Promote the Association and membership.
o Must possess strong organizational and inter-personal skills with the ability to work
independently or with a team.
o Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director to promote the
strategic goals of the Association.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
o Graduation from an accredited high school, or education equivalent. Uniquely
qualifying experience considered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Strong management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
o Ability to verbally communicate effectively and in written form in a professional manner in
person, by phone, in print or by electronic methods.
o Ability to work closely and collaboratively with staff, Association members, and business
representatives.
o Proficiency with personal computers and standard office applications, such as Microsoft
Office Suite.
o Exhibits professionalism, positive attitude, and adaptability.
o Possession of a valid driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
o Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.
o Ability to lift 25 pounds.
o Ability to travel regularly.
o General office environment.
