Principles of Iron and Manganese Treatment

All drinking water and/or water professionals, operators, maintenance, and management personnel will benefit from taking this training. This training is planned for those who work in the drinking water industry.  This four-hour course will discuss the causes and characteristics of Iron and Manganese in drinking water. The effectiveness of treatment system options will as be included in this course.

• What causes brown water in public drinking water systems?

• Characteristics of Iron and Manganese

• Processes for Iron and Manganese treatment

• Common types of customer complaints and troubleshooting solutions

This course will show that Iron and Manganese are naturally occurring elements commonly found in groundwater and wells. While not considered a health hazard, their presence often results in staining of laundry and plumbing components, as well as offensive tastes and appearances. Treatment methods for these elements depend on the form in which they occur in the untreated and treated water. Therefore, accurate water testing is important before considering your options and selecting treatment equipment.
