All drinking and wastewater\nsystems should examine cybersecurity vulnerabilities and develop a cybersecurity risk\nmanagement program\, thus mitigating a cyberattack from impacting system operations.\nBreaches in cybersecurity practices can compromise the ability of drinking water to provide\nclean and safe drinking water to customers\, erode customer confidence and result in financial\nand legal liabilities. Cyber-attacks against public water systems and wastewater treatment\nfacilities are increasing. Implementing basic cyber hygiene practices can help your utility\nprevent\, detect\, respond\, and recover from cyber incidents. This two-hour training will consist of\nan overview on cybersecurity in the water sector\, a look at ransomware awareness and\nprevention\, a review of cybersecurity incidents in the water industry\, and a discussion about the\nSCADA Cybersecurity Framework. Please ask about hybrid training options. \n  \nInstructor(s): \nMike Tetreault is the Cybersecurity Advisor (CSA) for Rhode Island (Region 1)\, within the\nIntegrated Operations Division\, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) of the\nDepartment of Homeland Security (DHS). CISA established ten regional offices across the\ncountry to improve the delivery of the department’s services to critical infrastructure owners and\noperators and state\, local\, tribal\, and territorial partners. CSAs are the front-facing cyber experts\nsupporting regional operations capabilities. Region 1 includes Maine\, New Hampshire\, Vermont\,\nConnecticut\, Rhode Island\, and Massachusetts. Cyber-attacks against public water systems and wastewater treatment facilities are increasing. DESCRIPTION:Time: 7:45am – 12:30pm      Place : 70 Romano Vineyard Way        CEUs: 0.4 \nCost: Free        Instructor: Matt Young \nEmerging contaminants are synthetic or naturally occurring chemicals or any microorganisms that are not commonly monitored in the environment\, but have the potential to enter the environment and cause known or suspected adverse ecological and/or human health effects. Emerging contaminants\, or contaminants of emerging concern\, can refer to many different kinds of chemicals\, including medicines\, personal care or household cleaning products\, lawn care and agricultural products. According to EPA\, an emerging contaminant is a chemical or material characterized by a perceived\, potential\, or real threat to human health or the environment or by a lack of published health standards. This is a four hour training course to discuss these contaminants and their affect on drinking water and wastewater.

This class provides valuable information on these advancements and many other topics related to metering. \nPlease arrive by 7:45am for registration as well as complimentary coffee and donuts. Lunch will also be provided.
