This training is planned for those who work in the wastewater and/or water industry. It covers basic math skills and methods for solving math-related problems that are associated with the daily operation of these utility systems. This 4-hour class will also prepare those who are planning to take the exam with typical test problems and test taking tips. The following math items will be covered: \n• Basic math fundamentals and functions such as units\, operations\, symbols\, exponents\,\nrounding\, averages\, and percentage\n• Area\, Volume\, Temperature\, Velocity\, Flow\, Detention Time\, Pressure\, and Horsepower\nconversions and calculations\n• The POUNDS FORMULA and all things associated with it – the Davidson Pie\, doses\,\nconcentrations\, F/M ratios and plant efficiencies. \nThroughout the training there will be MANY problems and instruction on how to approach problems on the licensing exams. By the end of this class the participant will be proficient with the Formula Sheet\, the Calculator\, the Davidson Pie\, the Arithmetic and Geometric Means\, and recognize what 7.48\, 1440\, .433 and 8.34 are-among other facts. \nPlease bring a calculator to the training.

SUMMARY:Hazard Communication and Emergency Response for Community Water Systems
DESCRIPTION:Time: 7:45am – 12:30pm     Place: 95 Cripe Street – North Kingstown\, RI     CEU(s): 0.4 \nCost: Free     Instructor: Matt Young \n  \nThe 2018 revisions to the Emergency Planning and Right to Know Act via the America’s Water Infrastructure Act requires Community Water Systems to be notified of any reportable release of an EPCRA hazardous substance or a CERCLA hazardous substance and have access to EPCRA Tier II information. Tier II Facilities are required to report to DEM on an annual basis on hazardous substances stored at their facilities. The EPA requires Community Water Systems to submit Emergency Response Plans under AWIA. With a collaboration of state agencies\, a plan of developing an SOP to promptly notify systems in the event of a releases and help systems plan in case of a release. Tier II facilities will be identified to CWS and know where their source waters are in relation to sources of hazardous substances.

DESCRIPTION:Time: 7:45am – 12:30pm      Place : 70 Romano Vineyard Way        CEUs: 0.4 \nCost: Free        Instructor: Matt Young \nEmerging contaminants are synthetic or naturally occurring chemicals or any microorganisms that are not commonly monitored in the environment\, but have the potential to enter the environment and cause known or suspected adverse ecological and/or human health effects. Emerging contaminants\, or contaminants of emerging concern\, can refer to many different kinds of chemicals\, including medicines\, personal care or household cleaning products\, lawn care and agricultural products. According to EPA\, an emerging contaminant is a chemical or material characterized by a perceived\, potential\, or real threat to human health or the environment or by a lack of published health standards. This is a four hour training course to discuss these contaminants and their affect on drinking water and wastewater.

This class provides valuable information on these advancements and many other topics related to metering. \nPlease arrive by 7:45am for registration as well as complimentary coffee and donuts.
